Several awards are available to students
statewide, including two of SFACF’s most recognized scholarships. The
Joe Foss “An American Hero” Scholarship honors students who demonstrate
characteristics of an American patriot, and the Fred and Marie
Christopherson Scholarship highlights high school seniors who plan to continue
their education at a college or university in South Dakota.
Golden West Telecommunications offers a one-time, $1,000 scholarship to students who's parents/legal guardian reside within one of the Golden West service areas and subscribe to a Golden West service (phone, internet and/or cable tv). Forty-five awards will be given, one for each of the high schools within the service area.

The Horatio Alger Denny Sandford Scholarship is awarded to high schools seniors in the amount of $10,000 or $25,000 depending on which school they attend, and is to be disbursed over the student's college career.

The Bellator Titans Motorcycle Club is excited to announce the availability of a $1,500 scholarship to an applicant who is in need of financial assistance. This is our seventh year presenting this scholarship and are looking for high school seniors who will be freshmen at any post-secondary intuition of higher learning. Applicants need to plan to attend an in-state post-secondary school in order to apply for the scholarship. Applicant does not need to be top of their class, but the committee is searching for students who are hardworking and motivated to succeed.
The South Dakota Firefighters Association, South Dakota Firefighters Association Auxiliary and the Dear Old Timers Organization (DOT) are offering two $1000 scholarships to two high school students to assist in their higher education.
Eligibility Requirements:1. A Son or daughter of any member (living, deceased or retired) of a fire department in South Dakota or an active member of a junior fire department in South Dakota.2. A high school senior or student entering their first semester of college.3. The applicant must be sponsored by a fire department that has 100% membership in the SD Firefighters Association for the current year.4. The applicant may also be sponsored by a member of the SD Firefighters Auxiliary, a local fire department auxiliary or a member of the Dear Old Timers.5. The scholarship may be used at any university, college or Post-Secondary institution (Vo-Tech.) Preference will be given to those who are obtaining a fire science or emergency service degree.

of Gerald and Elna Miller will be awarding a $400 scholarship in the memory of
their parents, to a Jones County high school graduate who plans to attend or is
currently attending a technical institute or trade school. The scholarship will be given to the student
the second semester of their freshmen year after proof is shown they are registered
as a full-time student. Priority will be
given to applicants who are current Jones County high school seniors.

The Build Dakota Scholarships is awarded to skilled scholars entering high-need workforce programs at South Dakota technical institutes.
The South Dakota Association of Conservation
District employees (SDACDE) set up the Karst Memorial Scholarship in
1995 in memory of a fellow employee, David Karst, who passed away in 1992.
David was employed with the Edmunds County Conservation District as
District Manager from October 1972 until the time of his death on September
16, 1992. He was very active in the soil and water conservation movement
and dedicated to educating our youth on the benefits of conserving our
natural resources. David was named 1981 Outstanding Employee of the South
Dakota Association of Conservation District Employees and also Honorary
Chapter Farmer by the Bowdle Vocational FFA. In 1983 he was recognized
for his service to the South Dakota Association of Conservation District
Employees. In 1984 he was named Outstanding Alumni Member of Vocational
FFA and in 1991 he received the Honorary State FFA Degree.
The SDACDE is offering Three (3) - $500 scholarships. The purpose of this scholarship
is to encourage those students concerned with conserving their natural
resources by furthering their education in an agricultural related field.
The scholarship is available to those attending a four-year college or a
vocational college and pursuing an Ag related career.
KARST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The South Dakota Association of Towns & Townships is offering one $500 and one $1000 scholarship to senior high school students who complies with the following:

Graduating seniors from qualifiying high schools shall be aware of this scholarship and afforded the opportunity to apply for said scholarship. A minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 is required. Students planning to attend any college or vocational school are eligible to apply.
The recipient must submit the completed application form, high school transcript, activities resume, four (4) letters of recommendation (see Application) and a 300 word essay.
Applications will be judged on the following criteria: Character; Leadership Skills; Community Involvement; Respect for the Law; and Awareness of the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol (Essay).

The Johannsen scholarship for current college students is a $4,000, $2,000 fall semester & $2,000 spring semester award. This scholarship is available to a Jones County High School graduate who will be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university as a junior or senior during the 2019-2020 school year. Scholarship selection will consist of application evaluation.

The West River Pheasants Forever chapter is offering two $500 scholarships to local students. The student or one of their parents need to be members of West River Pheasnats Forever.

This scholarship was established in memory of Evie Kahnke by her family. Evie was an outstanding student-athlete and well rounded individual active in sports, FFA, 4H and her religion. She lost her 3 month battle to Acute Myeloid Luekemia at the age of 17, just days after her high school graduation.
This scholarship is open to South Dakota students who were active in extra curricular activities through all of his/her high school years and plan to pursue a careere in the ag industry.
